A Life Remembered

Obituary

William Raymond “Willie” May, a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on July 30, 2026 at his home in Kirbyville. Willie was born on May 30, 1943 to John and Evelyn May in Port Arthur, Texas.

Willie was a rough and tumble guy who would fight you in the morning but give you the shirt off his back in the evening, if you needed it. He was a loyal and compassionate friend and someone you could rely on when things were going bad.

Willie spent 50 plus years in the valve industry where he was known for his dedication to his customers throughout the country and beyond.

Willie will be remembered by his loving wife, Vera May, son, Troy May and his wife, Shari, and his daughter, Kimberly May. He will be missed by his nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, his faithful dog “Rat”, and siblings, his twin brother, Louis May and his wife, Beverly and sister, Melba Cassel Schafer.

Willie was preceded in death by his parents, John and Evelyn May, his son, William “Little Willie” May, grandson, Louis Troy “TJ” May, and his older brother, John Robert May, Jr.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, August 23, 2026, 2:00 pm – 4:00 p.m. followed by a Celebration of Life at 4:00 p.m. at Melancon Levingston Funeral Home, 1605 Avenue H, Nederland, Texas.

I have known William since the age of six. He was a proud US Marine. I have a great photo of him I took about 10 years ago with his original Parris Island Book. RIP Old Friend.
