Sherman Timothy “Tim” Burnett, 62, of Sour Lake, Texas, passed away on August 11, 2026, in Sour Lake. He was born on July 16, 1964, in Kountze, Texas.
Tim was the dedicated owner and operator of Burnett Farms. He found great joy in the outdoors, especially through fishing and hunting. He was known as a wonderful friend to all who knew him, and family was always of the utmost importance to him.
Tim was also a skilled heavy equipment operator and had a lifelong passion for horse racing. He was especially proud to own his own racehorse. A lifelong collector of arrowheads, Tim amassed a remarkable collection of more than 500 artifacts over the years.
He was a devoted brother, uncle, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Tim is survived by his brother, Thad Burnett; sister, Meia Beaty; cousins, too many to name individual 5 on the Guedry side over 50 on the Burnett side nephew, Timothy Colt Beaty and Wife Heather Williams; nieces, Anna Ryan and Husband Justin Ryan, Chessie Payne and husband Daniel Payne and Chloe' Beaty; great-nephews, Caleb Brown and wife Morgan Brown, Cayden Brown, Reid Stanley, Troy Payne, Levi Beaty, and Blake “Gus” Payne; great-nieces, Trista Beaty, Georgia Payne, and Darci Beaty; and great-great-nephew, Clyde Brown.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thad Sherman Burnett and Sara Ann Guedry Burnett, his nephew, Andy Beaty; and his brother-in-law, John Beaty.
A visitation will be held on Friday, August 21, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at New Life Church in Batson, Texas.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. at New Life Church in Batson, Texas. A graveside service will follow at Guedry Cemetery.
Honoring Tim as pallbearers will be Caleb Brown, Cayden Brown, Ronnie Burnett, Jerry White, Steven Gardner, and Daniel Payne. Honorary pallbearers will be Reid Stanley, Troy Payne, Levi Beaty, Blake “Gus” Payne, Clyde Brown, Nathen Tuttle, Clifford Tuttle, Miguel Garcia and Collis Stanley.
Tim will be remembered for his generous spirit, his love of the outdoors, his dedication to his family, and the many friendships he made throughout his life. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
