Ronald “Ronnie” Floyd Lee

Ronald “Ronnie” Floyd Lee, 89, of Orange, Texas, went to be with his Heavenly Father at his home with his loving wife and family by his side on August 20, 2026.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange, Texas. Officiating will be Reverends Bob and Kim Forman of Restoration Church in Orange, Texas. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Orange, Texas.

Visitation will be held the evening prior to the service, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Monday, August 24, 2026, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange, Texas.

Born in Port Neches, Texas, on November 29, 1936, Ronnie was the son of Franklin Dewey Lee and Elizabeth Frances Kelly Musgrove.

Upon completing his Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering degree from the University of Texas on June 4, 1960, Ronnie began his career with DuPont in Orange, Texas. He then left his job at DuPont to teach and further his education at Lamar University. He earned his Master of Science degree in Math on January 29, 1965. Ronnie then began working at Spencer, which ultimately became Chevron Chemicals, and retired as a LAN Manager in 1999. Because of his love of teaching, he returned to the classroom to teach high school and college-level math at Community Christian School and retired for the final time at the age of 80.

While attending the University of Texas, Ronnie met the love of his life on a blind date in Valley Mills, Texas. Ronnie married Gloria Ann Zander on June 18, 1961, and they started their family in 1964. They remained inseparable for over 65 years and provided a wonderful example of the way a marriage should be. Ronnie and Gloria had three darling daughters. Ronnie’s family was his pride and joy. He was actively present in his immediate family’s lives as well as his grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s lives. Ronnie enjoyed family games but also enjoyed helping his children with math homework and finances. He loved vacationing with family and friends, particularly at the beach. Ronnie loved watching sports (especially UT athletics) and reading, but most of all he loved spending time with his family.

Above all, Ronnie was a man of deep faith, and he loved his Lord and Savior. Ronnie and Gloria also instilled a strong love of Jesus in their children. Ronnie, with the help of Gloria, created the Junior Jesus Club to encourage, enrich, and Biblically instruct not only his daughters but also the children in the neighborhood. Ronnie was very generous with his time and money and served faithfully in every church he attended. Ronnie was a choir director at Park Avenue Methodist Church and an elder, Sunday school teacher, and on the church board of every church he attended. Ronnie was a long-time member of Community Church, where he was a care group leader and oversaw the prayer ministry. Ronnie was a founding member and treasurer of Restoration Church. He was also a part of Promise Keepers, Full Gospel Business Men’s Organization, Lay Witness Missions where personal testimony and experience with Christ were shared, and Obadiah School of Ministry where, in August of 2023, he was ordained as a minister through World Ministry Fellowship.

He is preceded in death by his father, Franklin Dewey Lee; and his mother, Elizabeth Frances Musgrove and her husband, Boss Musgrove; and his sister, Delores Lee Smith.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 65 years, Gloria Ann Lee; his daughters, Cynthia Rene Clark and her husband, George Kevin Clark; Deborah Kay Hearne and her husband, Royce Layne Hearne; and Jennifer Jo Key and her husband, Kevin William Key. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Angela Nicole Wells and her husband Randell Jason Wells, Erin Alysse Laney and her husband James Dillon Laney, Casey Lee Hearne, Rebecca Ann Key, and Allan Michael Key and his wife Kyndall Renee Key; and twin great-grandchildren Miles Hartford Key and Evan Sterling Key.

The following former students of Ronnie Lee will be serving as pallbearers: Ethan Berwick, Tyler Leifeste, Cody Cupit, Eric Hinton, Andrew Toohey, and Matthew Toohey.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Missions Fund or Benevolence Fund at Restoration Church, Orange, Texas.

Night, night, sleep tight, don’t let the bed bugs bite.
