A Life Remembered

Obituary

Richard Mendoza, 80, of Port Arthur, Texas, passed away on October 31, 2026, in Port Arthur. Born on November 8, 1945, Richard lived a life rich in dedication, service, and love for his family and community. He was a devoted husband to Kathleen "Kathy" Mendoza for 60 wonderful years, a bond that was a testament to enduring love and partnership.

Richard proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. After his military service, he embarked on a distinguished 39-year career as an electrician at Texaco/Motiva, where he was a valued member of the IBEW. Beyond his professional life, Richard was a man of many passions. He found joy in woodworking, tending to his garden, and the tranquility of hunting and fishing.

A man of deep faith, Richard was a beloved member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. His commitment to his church family was evident through his active involvement with the United Board of Missions, RCIA, A.C.T.S, and numerous other church functions. He also dedicated his time and talents to the Sertoma Club and the Knights of Columbus, embodying a spirit of community and service. As much as he loved being a Dad and Grandpa, his heart always belonged to his wife, Kathy. His love for her showed in the little things he did every day. In the life they built and the family they raised, he leaves a beautiful example of what it means to love someone whole-heartedly.

Richard is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Kathleen "Kathy" Mendoza of Port Arthur; his son, Corey Mendoza and his wife Blanca of Nederland; his daughters, Kelley Fountain and her husband, Scott of Nederland, and Stacie Adams and her husband, Shawn of Port Neches.
