Rebecca (Becky) Guidry, a beloved mother, daughter, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully in Nederland, Texas, surrounded by her loving family on November 4, 2026. Born on April 12, 1967, in Port Arthur, Becky carried a deep pride for her family, being from Port Arthur, her Cajun roots, and her Catholic faith throughout her life. Her vibrant spirit and warm heart touched everyone she met.
She grew up in a family that was the picture of a traditional, loving, happy household. There were homemade meals and family dinners every night, and they never missed Sunday Mass. Her mom kept the home running with warmth and structure, and her dad was involved in everything his kids did and always ready to play ball. With cousins close by and a neighborhood full of children playing outside, Becky’s childhood was full of fun and friendship, and many of those neighborhood kids became her lifelong friends.
Becky’s love of sports began early. She attended St. Catherine’s and Bishop Byrne Catholic Schools, where she was a proud member of the Bishop Byrne Colleens. She was an outstanding athlete and a fierce competitor in volleyball, basketball, and her favorite sport, softball. When Bishop Byrne closed in 1983, Becky moved to Thomas Jefferson High School. Wanting to be involved, she joined the tennis team, even though she had never played competitively. Within a year, she was ranked number one in the district. After high school, she received a tennis scholarship to San Jacinto College in Pasadena, where she achieved a national ranking of 16 and earned an Associate Degree in Finance. Her talent on the court led her to Texas Lutheran College, where she continued to play tennis and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology. After graduating, she spent another year coaching the college tennis team, passing on her skill and enthusiasm to the next group of players. Becky stayed a devoted sports fan all her life. Her two favorite teams were the Astros and whichever team her son played on. You could usually find her watching just about anything on ESPN, often two games at once, one on the TV and one on her phone.
Becky put her business skills and her big heart to work in her career. She spent 30 years at the YMCA, first as Director of Childcare, then Program Director, and later as Chief Financial Officer and Director of Human Resources. She built lifelong relationships with members, co-workers, and the children that she encountered. For the past nine years, she worked at the Museum of the Gulf Coast, a job she truly loved. She worked tirelessly there: overseeing memberships, organizing events, running the gift shop, acting as the museum’s “unofficial photographer,” head of the "welcoming committee," and overseeing the finances. Becky was incredibly proud of the work the museum does, and her dedication will be felt there for years to come.
Family meant everything to Becky. Her world revolved around her children; she was their biggest supporter and proudest fan. Her grandchildren were her greatest treasure and called her "Honey". Her day was not complete until she talked with them on the phone or FaceTime. She was extremely excited for the upcoming birth of her first grandson and was dreaming of watching him play sports one day. She also adored her nieces and nephew and treasured every moment she spent with them. For Becky, nothing compared to having the people she loved gathered together. Sunday lunch at her parents’ house was a cherished tradition, a time when everyone gathered around the table to share a meal, catch up, and enjoy each other’s company. Family gatherings were the highlight of her life, and Becky was always in charge of desserts; her famous Banana Pudding (sans bananas) will be missed. Above all, Becky’s greatest love was her family, and the time she spent with them was what mattered most. She was so loved.
Becky also cherished her friends. She made time to see them every week, often over lemon drop martinis and a meal at the Schooner. She loved a good shopping trip, as long as she didn’t have to go down every aisle! In recent years, she went on several cruises with her group of friends and shared many adventures with them; those trips brought her so much joy. This past May, Becky traveled to Spain with her sister, Gina and had quite an adventure. She wasn’t a fan of the long plane ride, but once they arrived, she loved every minute of it, made friends everywhere she went, and has selfies to prove it. One of her highlights was swimming in the Mediterranean Sea.
Nine years ago, Becky met the love of her life, Roland Garcia. They were truly meant for each other and enjoyed every moment together, whether they were watching sports, going out to eat, or traveling to visit her children. Together they shared the joy of loving their grandchildren. We are deeply grateful to Roland for loving Becky completely and unconditionally until the end.
Each of her granddaughters inherited a unique "Honey" trait: Livie takes charge, Landry is sassy, Blace (her twin) is strong-willed, London is chill until she's not, and Lyla is friendly.
Becky is survived by her loving mother, Gloria; her devoted daughter, Kiersten Lochridge and husband, Landon; her cherished son, Joshua Lamb and wife, Morgan; her adored grandchildren, Livie, Landry, and Lyla Lochridge, Blace and London Lamb, and Beckett Lamb, who is due April 2027 (hopefully on her birthday). She also leaves behind her sister, Gina Hale and husband, Greg; her fiancé, Roland Garcia; her nieces and nephews, Alyssa Daigle and her husband Eli, Trace Barnett and his wife Ashley, and Nathan Guidry; and her great-nieces and nephews, Naomi Paris, Niyah, Violet, Scarlet, and Noah Barnett. She was preceded in death by her father, Raymond Guidry Sr., and her brother, Raymond Guidry Jr.
The family would like to extend a sincere expression of gratitude to family and friends for the love, support, and prayers during this difficult time. We appreciate the visits, meals, phone calls, and texts; you showed up in big ways and we will never be able to truly express how much your acts of kindness and love mean to us. A special thank you to the nurses and doctors at Houston Methodist and Harbor Hospice who cared for her and our family.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, November 8, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. at Melancon Levingston Funeral Home, 1605 Avenue H, Nederland, Texas followed by a Rosary at 6:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, November 9, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 3840 Woodrow Drive, Port Arthur, Texas. Cremation will take place at a later date, followed by interment at Oak Bluff Cemetery, where Becky will be laid to rest near her father and brother.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Catherine Catholic School in her honor.
