A Life Remembered
Obituary
Neil Adam Higginbotham, born September 22, 1942, passed away on October 6, 2026. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather whose life was shaped by his family, his ministry, and his desire to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Neil’s ministry began when he was called to the pulpit to preach. From then on, he devoted himself to serving the churches and congregations entrusted to his care. He poured himself into the people he served, hoping above all that they would come to know Jesus and the gift of salvation.
Preaching and singing were central to Neil’s life. Alongside his beloved wife, Linda, he shared a meaningful ministry through music. As Neil and Linda, they became a cherished singing duo, using their voices to worship, encourage others, and proclaim the message of Christ. Their ministry touched many lives over the years.
Neil and Linda Shaw Higginbotham shared 65 years of marriage. He adored her, and together they built a life marked by devotion, companionship, and a shared commitment to God.
He was the proud father of three children: Kim Langley and her husband, Mike; Stacy Rollins and her husband, Clay; and Adam Higginbotham and his wife, Tammy. His family grew to include 18 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild, all of whom held a special place in his heart.
Neil is also survived by his siblings, Carol Broussard and Crystal Fulda and her husband, Barry.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cornelius Higginbotham and Earline Hazel Higginbotham.
Neil cared deeply about the spiritual well-being of his family. He wanted his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and everyone close to him to know the Lord personally. His convictions were evident not only in his preaching but also in the way he lived each day.
Outside the church, Neil enjoyed fishing and caring for his Longhorn cattle. These simple pleasures brought him joy, while his relationship with Jesus remained the foundation of his life.
Neil loved Jesus, looked to Jesus, and lived for Jesus.
As his earthly journey drew to a close, his concern remained focused on others. His request for his memorial service was simple and heartfelt: preach salvation to my family and friends.
Those words capture Neil’s enduring purpose. Even in his final days, he hoped someone would hear the Gospel, come to know Christ, and one day share in the promise of Heaven.
Neil leaves a lasting legacy through his family, his music, his preaching, and the many lives he influenced. His example will continue through the generations that follow him.
For those who mourn his passing, there is comfort in knowing that the Savior Neil proclaimed and trusted throughout his life is now the One he sees face to face.
