Marie Lee, a beloved mother, grandmother, and cherished member of her community, passed away peacefully on October 24, 2026, at Magnolia Manor in Groves, Texas. She was born on January 19, 1930, and resided in Port Arthur, Texas. A devout Catholic, Marie was a faithful parishioner of St. Therese Little Flower of Jesus. She dedicated many years as a custodian for Port Arthur ISD, always providing for her family with a strong work ethic and a loving heart.
Marie was known for her direct yet loving nature, her generosity, and her warm spirit. She had a special fondness for flowers, especially roses, and found joy in the simple pleasures of life, including seafood and desserts. Children in the neighborhood often looked forward to her kind gesture of handing out candy. She was a wonderful neighbor, frequently cooking for those who were ill, and her love for the holidays, particularly Christmas, brought much cheer to those around her. Marie also enjoyed smoothies, strawberry shakes, puppies, and the comfort of wearing slippers and pajamas.
Her memory will be cherished by her loving children, Alice Henson; Chris Borel and his wife, Robin; Lisa Morrison and her husband, Barry; Augury Lee and his wife, Kimberly; and Cheryl Biddy and her husband, Robbie. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Stacy Schweiss and husband, Scott; Amy Jo Moore and husband, James; Amber Huckaby and husband, Andrew; Ally Diaz; Denise Power and husband, Agrok; Christina Middleton and husband, Adam; Lynn Henderson and husband, Luke; Will Morrison and wife, Vanessa; Chrystal Jeans and husband, Lance; Tracy Hebert and husband, Matthew; Morgan Ueding and husband, Matthew; Paisley Lee; and Chad Gaston. Marie also leaves behind numerous great-grandchildren.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents, John and Cecile Boudreaux; her beloved husband, Augury William Lee; her daughter, Elizabeth "Liz" Yelverton; and her son, Lawrence Joseph Borel. Her love, kindness, and unwavering spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Marie’s life will be celebrated with a visitation on Thursday October 29, 2026, from at 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home, 5200 Parkway Street, Groves, Texas. A Rosary will be held on Friday, October 30, 2026 at 10:30 a.m. followed by a Service at 11:00 a.m. at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home, 5200 Parkway Street, Groves, Texas. The interment will be at Memory Gardens, Nederland, Texas.
