Lee David Angelle

Lee David Angelle, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 30, 2026, in Orange, Texas. He was born on April 14, 1957, in Port Arthur, Texas.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 10, 2026, at St. Henry Catholic Church. Officiating will be Father David Edwards.

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City, with a Rosary to begin at 7:00 p.m.

Lee was the longtime owner of Hopper Lumber, where he dedicated many years of his life. He was known for his generous spirit and his unwavering commitment to helping his community in times of need, often giving the shirt off his back to ensure others were taken care of. After retiring from the lumber business, Lee continued to work for Economy Insulation.

His grandchildren were truly his world. Affectionately known as "Paw Paw," he made it a point to attend all of their events, cheering them on and watching them succeed. He was a very handy man who could fix anything. Lee also enjoyed spending time at the beach and his deer lease. A man of deep faith, Lee loved the Lord and found joy in sharing the word of God. He was a wonderful man who loved hard and was loved by many.

Lee is survived by his devoted wife of 38 years, Connie Landry Angelle; his son, Kevin Angelle and wife Jennifer; his daughters, Jenna Hyde and husband Tyler, Lauren Richardson and husband Josh, and Allison Small and husband Justin. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Paisley Angelle, Garrett Gearhart, Jake Gearhart, Beckham Hyde, Brynne Hyde, Bryden Richardson, and Gabi Garza. He is further survived by his siblings, Judy Horlander, Michael Angelle and wife Barbara, Mary Moon, Gilbert Angelle and wife Mitzi, Brigid Ferguson and husband Harvey, Thad Angelle and wife Candi, Mark Angelle and wife Connie, and Frank Angelle and wife Evelyn, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, in-laws, and other loving family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Joyce Angelle; his brothers-in-law, Dennis Horlander and Jimmy Moon; and numerous other loved ones.

Serving as pallbearers will be Kevin Angelle, Tyler Hyde, Josh Richardson, Justin Small, Frank Angelle, and Gilbert Angelle. Honorary pallbearers are his grandchildren.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to MD Anderson, Texas Oncology, and Gentiva Hospice for the wonderful care and support they gave to Lee. Special thanks to nurses Meghan and Holly.
