Obituary

Joseph Duane Armstrong, 77, passed away peacefully on September 7, 2026. Born on July 27, 1949, in Orange, Texas, to the late Pete and Irene Armstrong, Duane was a beacon of warmth and generosity throughout his life.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 12, 2026, at Bland Cemetery in Orange.

Visitation will begin prior to the service at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 12, 2026, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.

A proud graduate of West Orange High School, Duane was known for his deeply charitable spirit and extensive involvement in the community. He was a truly giving and kind individual, loved by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. He always had a joke to brighten the day. Duane found joy in the simple pleasures of life, being an avid gardener, whose green thumb brought beauty to his surroundings. He had a passion for his Corvettes and cherished the companionship of his beloved Bosten Terriers.

He is survived by his loving siblings, Sharon Walston, William Armstrong and his wife Jane, and Nell LeJeune and her husband Jerry. Duane also leaves behind many cherished nieces, nephews, and a wide circle of loving family and friends who will deeply miss his presence.

Duane was preceded in death by his parents, Pete and Irene Armstrong.
