Obituary

Harold Burleigh, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 8, 2026, in Port Arthur, TX, just shy of his 80th birthday. He was born on September 13, 1946, in Orange, Texas.

Harold dedicated 56 wonderful years of his life to his cherished wife, Jennifer Ann Brown Burleigh, who preceded him in death. He was a proud graduate of West Orange High School, Class of 1964 and attended the University of Houston. Harold built a distinguished career at DuPont SRW, where he worked diligently for 38 years. Beyond his professional life, he was a devoted member of his community, serving with the Little Cypress Volunteer Fire Department for 30 years.

Family was at the heart of Harold's world. He treasured time spent at the lake house with his loved ones, and spoiling his grandchildren was always a top priority. A lifelong enthusiast, Harold was a dedicated fan of both the Dallas Cowboys and the Houston Astros, cheering them on through every season.

Harold was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jennifer Ann Brown Burleigh; his daughter, Leigh-ann Burleigh Trawhon; his father, Charles L Burleigh Sr.; his mother, Hilda Daw Burleigh; his sister-in-law, Mary Ruth Brown Frazier; his brother-in-law, Joseph Carroll (Pete) Brown; and his brother-in-law, David Plesek.

He is survived by his loving son, Scott Burleigh, and his wife, Buffy Burleigh; his sister, Sheryl Burleigh Nelson, and her husband, Pat Nelson; his brother, Charles L (Buddy) Burleigh; his brother-in-law, William Pate (BB) Brown, and his wife, Kay Brown; his sister-in-law, Joan Plesek and Son-in-law Troy Trawhon. Harold also leaves behind his adored grandchildren, Maegan Burleigh, Casey Burleigh and wife Mackenzie, Pate Arena and Wife Morgan, Conner Trawhon, and Claire Trawhon Harvey and Husband Nick, as well as his precious great-grandchildren, Paisley Angelle, Briggs Burleigh, Evie Jane Burleigh, Luna Harvey, Joey Jayne Harvey, Elleigh Arena, and Jaycie Arena. He will also be fondly remembered by his numerous nieces and nephews.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at Bonne Vie Continuing Care facility in Port Arthur for their exceptional care.

Harold's warm spirit, dedication to family, and unwavering loyalty will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

After cremation there will be a gathering of family and friends at a later date with private graveside services to follow.
