Ellen Beata Jordahn

Ellen Jordahn, a beloved resident of Nederland, Texas, passed away peacefully on October 12, 2026, in Nederland. Born on May 26, 1927, in West Palm Beach, Florida, Ellen lived a life rich in learning, adventure, and quiet devotion. She was a proud graduate and valedictorian of Nederland High School's Class of 1945, a testament to her lifelong dedication to education and excellence.

Ellen dedicated her professional life to nurturing young minds, serving as a respected teacher in the Port Arthur ISD until her retirement in 1985. Beyond the classroom, Ellen embraced the world with an adventurous spirit. She was an avid traveler who found immense joy in hiking and exploring the natural beauty of numerous National Parks. Her deep appreciation for her Danish heritage was a source of great pride, and her remarkable fluency in five languages spoke to her intellectual curiosity and global perspective. She also held a special place in her heart for her beloved "Kitty Cats."

Ellen was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Olga Jordahn, and her sister, Inge M. Jordahn. Her memory will be cherished by her devoted neighbors, friends, and caretakers, Frank and Stephanie Korolko, and her longtime caregiver, Delores Edwards, all of whom provided comfort and companionship.

Ellen's life was a beautiful tapestry woven with threads of intellect, adventure, and quiet kindness. She leaves behind a legacy of curiosity, a love for the natural world, and the warmth of her gentle spirit. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

SFA class of 1975. I took many classes from her. Through the years I kept in touch with her, enjoying the stories she shared. Sadly, the past few years I lost contact with her. She wasn't only an educator, she was a friend.

Miss Jordahn was my teacher at Stillwell Technical Center who taught Office Education Skills. She was so kind and wanted us to be the best in the field she was instructing us in. It was a pleasure knowing her -- always happy & joyful and willing to listen to all needs.
