Elicia Evette Marberry, 60, of Liberty, Texas, passed away peacefully on November 3, 2026, surrounded by the love of those who meant so much to her. Born on August 16, 1966, in Liberty, Texas, Elicia spent her life in the community she called home.
If you knew Elicia, you knew she was one of a kind. She was a good wife, a wonderful mother, and the kind of grandma who thought the world revolved around her grandbabies. She was their biggest fan, never missing a game and always there cheering them on. She loved her family fiercely and was always willing to help anyone who needed it. Elicia was a hard worker, never met a stranger, and treated everyone the same. She had a way of making people feel welcome and loved, no matter who they were.
Elicia wasn't someone who cared about money, fancy things, or having the best of everything. She found happiness in the simple treasures of life, especially spending time with family and friends. She had a heart bigger than most and an uncommon ability to care for people. She was always giving, always helping, and always thinking of someone else. She was always looking for little ways to make someone smile, and one of her favorite things to do was ask people if they needed some "ice cream money" so she could get them some ice cream. It was just one of the many ways Elicia showed her love for others. Her favorite was Blue Bell Coffee Caramel, and if you knew Elicia, you probably heard her offer to buy you some at one time or another!
She shared a special friendship with her two best friends, Kriste Vickers and Kristie Frazier, making memories and sharing plenty of laughs along the way. Elicia also loved taking trips to Galveston with her beloved husband, enjoying the time together and the little moments that meant the most.
Above all, Elicia loved the Lord. Her faith was an important part of who she was, and she faithfully prayed every night. Her love wasn't limited to her own family, either. Over the years, she became a grandma to hundreds of bonus grandkids who were lucky enough to experience the love, encouragement, and kindness she had to give. She may not have been related to them by blood, but she loved them just the same.
Elicia leaves behind a family who will miss her more than words can express. She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Fred Marberry, her children, Chad Marberry and wife Elizabeth, Chisholm Marberry and wife Megan, and Heather Roberts and husband Cody; her mother, Shirley Taylor; her beloved grandchildren, Thomas Marberry, Lydia Marberry, Brayden Roberts, Steely Roberts, Maverick "Kai" Roberts, Banyon Roberts, Hazly Marberry, and one grandbaby on the way; along with a host of cousins and countless friends and bonus family members.
She was preceded in death by her father, Eddie Taylor, and her brother, Eddie D. Taylor.
Elicia had a way of loving people that you just don't come across every day. She didn't need a special occasion to show someone she cared, and she never needed a reason to help. She made people feel like family, cheered the loudest for her grandbabies, and gave so much of herself to everyone around her. While she will be missed more than she could ever know, the love she gave, the memories she made, and the countless lives she touched will live on through all of us. And the next time someone needs a little ice cream money, we will all think of Elicia.
Visitation will be held Monday, November 9, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Faith and Family Funeral Services in Batson, Texas. Funeral services will follow on Tuesday, November 10, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Faith and Family Funeral Services, with Pastor Shawn Vickers officiating. Burial will follow at Guedry Cemetery.
