A Life Remembered

Obituary

Dolores “Dolly” Broussard Davis passed away peacefully at her residence, surrounded by her family, on September 17, 2026.

Dolores was born on July 31, 1933, in Port Arthur, Texas, to the late Edmea Marie Dugas Broussard and Nathan J. Broussard.

Dolores was a loving mother, grandmother, and homemaker whose greatest joy came from her family and the home she created for them. She had a special way of making those around her feel loved and cared for, and her family will forever cherish the warmth, comfort, and memories that filled her home.

Dolores graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1951. During her early working years, she was employed by the Retail Merchants Association, Texas Employers Insurance, and Employers Casualty Company. She later served as treasurer of the Texaco Retiree Social Club of Jefferson County and was a member of the O.P.E.R.A. Club.

She enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, especially playing bingo, sewing, and decorating her home for every season and holiday. Her home was a reflection of her creativity and love, and she took great pride in making every occasion special.

Dolores was also famous in her family for her macaroni and cheese and her tall, beautiful coconut cakes. These beloved recipes were more than just food; they were part of the love she shared and the memories she created around her table.

She will be remembered not only for the things she accomplished, but also for the love she gave so freely, the home she lovingly cared for, and the countless little ways she made life sweeter for her children, grandchildren, family, and friends.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Wednesday, September 23, 2026 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., at Melancon-Levingston Funeral Home in Nederland, with Father David Placette officiating. The service will immediately follow. Entombment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves, Texas.
